GARY WEISS
Either trying to figure out how something worked by taking it apart or building a better new one, Gary’s creative and curious nature was evident from early age. Thus it was no surprise that Gary spent more school time in the shop and in the art studio than any other place. Couple this with a somewhat irreverent and stubborn attitude, it was clear that Gary would carve a path all his own. And as far as Gary was concerned, he was going to invent the next “Sliced Bread”!
After graduating in 87’with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of San Diego, armed with a file full of concepts, Gary spent the next 6 years involved in a variety of start up ventures and immersed himself in a number of industries. From a partnership in an import/export company looking to supply an ever-growing Home Shopping Industry, to creating a variety of sporting good and apparel items, Gary learned the ropes of developing and bringing products to market.
Still, it was not until a 1991 chance meeting with Daniel Hart, that candy creation moved to the forefront. Then, following a fateful trip to Philadelphia and licensing their first candy concept, “The Smelly Deli”, Gary knew that he finally had something he could sink his teeth into. Literally! And after almost 20 years of creating, prototyping and traveling the world and the world of candy, life is truly sweet!
Living in Redondo Beach, CA with wife Debbie and two great kids Lydia and Henry– all creative in their own right, Gary’s days are filled with art, music and yes, lots of candy eating!
